Young Driver Focus 2018
We’re stepping well and truly out of our comfort zone. Well, I am. That’s right, it’s Harry here, Fluential’s influencer manager. On the 25th of April this – how on earth is 2018 this year?! – I’ll be speaking at Young Driver Focus 2018, an annual event focused on the thinking behind methods of reducing crashes and casualties amongst young drivers.
Young Driver Focus wanted a view point they haven’t previously had. One of a young driver themselves. Now 21, I’ve held my licence for just over 3 years and you can bet I’ve been on the receiving end of an awful amount of road safety adverts. Some powerful, compelling – inspiring change in behaviour. Others bland and, at worst, showing a real disconnection between the advertisers and those they are advertising too. In product advertising, the consequence of that is a waste of money. However, when it comes to road safety, the cost could quite literally be an individual’s life.
That’s where I hope to step in. My job revolves around helping brands communicate better with youth markets and engage them through the use of social media and the influencers it has spawned. Although, instead of trying to sell them influencer marketing, I’ll be demonstrating the importance of transforming their own brands into influencers to create a greater impact on their audience. Effectively, I’ll be helping them to take a leaf out of the books of the successful influencers of today.
Am I looking forward to it?
Yes. It’s completely different to anything I have ever done before, in front of an audience different to any I’ve ever spoken to. It’s even a suit and tie event, not something I attend often. I’ll be bringing out a very special piece of clothing. Can’t wait to show you all, but for now it’s a secret.
I’m dragging along Nicola, partner here and the sister agency we often refer to To The End – so I’ll get her to document it all on our Twitter and Instagram pages!
