Here’s how to get verified on Instagram
Want to get verified on Instagram? Well it just became a whole lot easier. Why? Because they’ve just started allowing verification requests, that’s why!
Now, just because the process has been simplified it doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed one of those coveted blue ticks. You still need to be eligible to get verified on Instagram. Whilst the visual platform doesn’t exactly come with a guidebook, a little bit of common sense will tell you what they’re after. Are you well known? Perhaps you or your brand are frequently in the media? Are you at risk of impersonation?
My mum shares every YouTube video I upload, so I guess I tick the first box if they’re verifying figures achieving superstar status in and around the rural village of Grimston, Norfolk.
I digress, let’s get back to why you’re here. Let’s get you verified on Instagram.
Applying for Instagram verification
Step one is really quite simple. Head to your profile within the app and tap the three black lines in the top right corner to bring up some extra options. At the bottom of the new window you’ll see Settings. Go ahead and press that and we’ll see you at step number 2.
They really have made this too easy haven’t they? No points awarded for guessing which option you select. The last option in the ‘Account’ menu is ‘Request verification’. That’s the next one to tap. Here I am tapping it below, how helpful of me!
Get your thinking cap on, because you’re about to have to remember your WHOLE ENTIRE NAME. Sorry, it does get easier soon, I promise. Whack that in the box and make your way to the 4th and final step. Yes by the way, my middle name really is Alan. You’ve had your fun, move along.
Finally, you need to upload some proof. You can have this photo sat waiting in your camera roll, or you can go ahead and take it now. Whatever you choose, make sure you submit a nice clear shot of some form of photo ID (or proper legit official business person documents for proper legit official business people – check you out).
Now you wait. They might say yes, they might say no. If they say no, please don’t ask us why. They didn’t tell you and they won’t tell us but you can always re-apply 30 days after they break your heart and rip away your dreams.
